Find No Cavil

This was a sparely (and poorly) updated blog about a law student. Now it is being reborn as a cliche: a Midwestern transplant living in New York City (here, Astoria) I am going to do my best to not write about work. Instead this will be an effort to document and record my attempt to have a life outside of work. Hopefully it won't be too dull.

pub

Everyone seems to call the corner/neighborhood bar a "pub". Why? what can you possibly gain from this? Seem more European/British/Irish? Please. The L&L Tavern, J&R Tap, Phyllis's Musical Inn, Foley's Bar - they're all one thing: Neighborhood bars. corner bars. The local Tavern.

Please stop calling these places "Pubs" generically. You're in Chicago. Call them "bars", call them "Taverns". "Taverns" sounds better anyways, and possibly more pretentious, if you're into that sort of thing.

I have a feeling if you say "pub"........you are.
